Loca’s Little Secrets

{August 1, 2007}   My new life as a bible basher

So I heard you all think I am becoming a Christian missionary who hands out bibles to orphans. Ha Ha very funny. I hate blogs it is really hard to express oneself. I was just really inspired at the conferance to try and offer to people what has really brought good things to my life and other people’s life, if you know what I mean. I am here for a formation experience so why not try new things if I get the chance. So far I have not converted anyone but I am having some wonderful experiences. Tonight Marcus and I took a group of school students around for a city/credo walk. At the end this kid said “like I used to like be like you know like afraid of homeless people or something like but you guys have like made me like wanna help them.” Then the whole class clapped. It was beautiful.  Also Naomi, Dave and I met this guy Craig the other night who was sleeping rough and we invited him back to our place for dinner and coffee and cigarettes. He was really cool he did heaps of rhyme and stuff. Some of it was actually really good but the line I liked best went something like “these people they invited me back to their house, no one’s every treated me so grouse.” Cute. I played some Tupac and he and I rapped together. We said he should come to Naomi’s writing group. I hope he does. I would have given him my new bible but he already had one.

Gem,

I read your post before and I was inspired by your stories of how people’s lives were changed by the gospel. I should’ve commented then so you didn’t think that everyone thinks you’re a biblebasher!! I’m sure you’ve got a long way to go to get to that!! Ha. Anyway, about your post, I really thought about it afterwards and it really excited me too. I was thinking about people shining. I would like to be one of those people.

I hear that you saw Gary at the conference too. Sounds like his role was pretty full-on there!

I am excited about the adventures that you’re having and I’m loving reading your blog.

Love Jo

Some orphans need bibles.

I really liked your post too. I don’t think you’re going to become a bible basher, but it sure would be funny if you did. I reckon you’ll just live there well in your own way.
